Meet Julie Fowlis who provided the singing voice in "Brave", Pixar's Oscar-winning animation set in the ancient Highlands of Scotland.  Raised in the Outer Hebrides, Julie is reaching contemporary audiences with Gaelic music, and is one of a small group of singers bringing it into the cultural mainstream.

A treasure trove of music is a legacy shared by some families across the generations. Broadcaster and musician Mary Ann Kennedy is from the Isle of Skye Gaelic music dynasty The Campbells, award-winning singers and pipers.  She joins Fiona to share her family story by describing their landmark project "Fonn" (pronounced Fown), a Gaelic word meaning both "land" and "melody," and reveals the essence of rural community life that is reflected in songs of work, worship, land, sea and love.
